The Lince Santa Clara wins the three biggest national Architecture awards

The Lince Santa Clara Historic Hotel, a five-star accommodation unit of Grupo Arliz installed in the former Convent of Santa Clara in Vila do Conde, has become one of the most notable examples of heritage rehabilitation in Portugal. This is the result of a project developed by the Carvalho Araújo studio. The intervention, which combines the historical heritage of the building with a contemporary architectural approach, has received widespread recognition both nationally and internationally, leading the hotel to win three of the country’s most prestigious architecture awards and to be nominated for major European distinctions.

Among the awards received, the 2025 National Urban Rehabilitation Award, granted by AICCOPN in the category of Best Intervention for Tourism Use, stands out, recognizing the excellence of the recovery of the former convent and its valorization within the REVIVE program. The project was also the winner of the 2025 National Real Estate Award, promoted by Magazine Imobiliário, where it earned the distinction in the Tourism category as well as the prestigious title of Best Development of the Year, highlighting the architectural, touristic, and economic impact of the hotel in the city of Vila do Conde. These recognitions were complemented by the Interior Architecture – Tourism and Rehabilitation and Construction – Tourism awards, won at the 7th edition of the Expresso/SIC Notícias Real Estate Awards, consolidating The Lince Santa Clara as a national reference in the enhancement of historic buildings.

In addition to the three titles won, the hotel also earned two Michelin Keys and one Michelin Star through its restaurant Oculto, and is nominated for the 2026 Mies van der Rohe Award (European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – EUmies Awards), one of the most important architecture distinctions in Europe, further reinforcing the building’s international projection.

The combination of these awards is deeply representative of Grupo Arliz’s quality and vision, as well as its ongoing commitment to heritage preservation, construction excellence, and the creation of distinctive hotel experiences. The Lince Santa Clara thus establishes itself not only as a milestone in Portuguese heritage rehabilitation but also as a demonstration of the rigor, sensitivity, and ambition that characterize Grupo Arliz.
