'Bracarense' Beetsteel produces fireproof walkways for Notre-Dame de Paris

The company chosen to produce fire walkways at Notre-Dame is from Braga. Beetsteel was responsible for manufacturing this steel safety structure for the Parisian Gothic cathedral, essential for the intervention of the fire department in the event of a fire.

The monument, which was consumed by flames in April 2019, has been the subject of extensive restoration work, which is expected to be completed soon, enabling it to reopen, predictably, in December 2024.

For Patrícia Vieira, Director of Beetsteel, this intervention consolidates the internationalization of the company, which in recent months has added several projects in France, such as the Viaduc des Rochers Noirs, in Soursac, the La Rose de Cherbourg and Gare de L ‘Est, in Paris, and Projet Mareterra, in Monaco.

“For us, it is a source of pride to participate in a project such as the restoration work on Notre-Dame Cathedral and to contribute, even if indirectly, to improving the security of the monument. On the other hand, it is good to see that Portuguese production, and in this case the Beetsteel product, is seeing its high quality recognized across borders”, she declares.

It is worth remembering that construction of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral began in 1163, making this one of the oldest French cathedrals in the Gothic style. Located in the heart of the French capital, it is an unmissable symbol of French history and the country’s culture.
